The Best Baby Clothing Brands

If your baby is anything like mine, then you know the painstaking struggle of finding a clothing brand that fits her chubby little cherub figure just right. In our post-pandemic world of online shopping, it can feel like you’re constantly playing a game of Goldy Locks. Some brands can run just a little too small (Carters) and some brands can be too long or wide (Burt’s Bees). Well, after 3 months, hundreds of dollars spent, and a lot of trial and error…I’ve come up with a list of my absolute favorite baby clothing brands (so you don’t have to)!

PRIMARY.COM

I’m starting with the G.O.A.T. of baby clothing brands (in my opinion)! Primary is a clothing company that sticks to the basics. You’ll find no logos or slogans on any of their clothes. Their fabrics are soft, sustainable, and come in the most vivid colors. They offer a slim, yet slightly long fit, perfect for my tall and somewhat slender baby. I have had no issues with shrinking or fading (I always wash my daughter’s clothing on tap cold and tumble dry). Although not the cheapest option on this list, Primary offers sales all year long.

I would highly recommend the items listed below:

KYTE BABY

You may have already heard of this brand due to the popularity of their soft bamboo sleep sacks, but I’m here to tell you that the hype is real! I was originally introduced to Kyte by my close friend at work, and although they would be considered a “luxury baby brand”, with a single footie costing $33, they truly are worth the investment. The fabric is soft and buttery and has a great stretch, meaning these pieces of clothing will be able to remain a staple in your baby’s wardrobe longer than brands that use traditional cotton blends. The colors are subtle, soft, and sophisticated. I personally love all pieces in Fog, Oat, Aloe, and Sunset. Their sleep sacks are legendary. I find the 1.0 tog sacks to be “just right” for bedtime, although I also own the 0.5 and 2.5 and use them when traveling (you never know what the temperature will be in a hotel or Airbnb). I’m not going to say these sleep sacks are magic, but my 2-month-old started sleeping through the night as soon as she was able to wear them to bed!

I absolutely love the items listed below:

OLD NAVY

When it comes to Old Navy, it’s all about the value! These cotton blend fabrics run slightly longer and wider, meaning your baby will still fit in that 0-3 month size when they’ve already transitioned to 3-6 in most other brands. Their “Everyday Magic: Everyday Value” footies are only $8 and always come in a great variety of colors and patterns. I also love that they have value sets of 3 sleepers for $24 and packs of 5 bodysuits for $25. Old Navy baby clothing washes well and has become a staple in our household. I always carry an extra Old Navy sleeper and bodysuit in my diaper bag for a comfortable outfit change on the go!

Here are a few of my favorite value sets:

CLOUD ISLAND

Cloud Island is a popular brand found at Target. I would say their clothing is the most “true to size” that I’ve come across so far. Their styles and patterns can be a little hit-or-miss, but overall, it’s a very reliable clothing brand. Most babies spend little to no time in Newborn sized clothing, so it’s hard to justify spending large amounts of money on clothing your baby may never wear. I would highly recommend grabbing a few 3-packs of Cloud Island newborn sleepers. You won’t spend very much money and, as I said earlier, their newborn clothing is very “true to size”.

Current Cloud Island pieces I would recommend grabbing:

POSH PEANUT

I absolutely adore the funky prints and designs that Posh Peanut incorporates into their baby clothing! I first fell in love with them when they launched their Women’s Empowerment line while I was still pregnant with my daughter. These soft and stretchy footies have images of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Katherine Johnson, Frida Kahlo, and Rita the Riveter…and did I mention they have ruffle butts!? What’s not to love? Although a little spendy, these pieces will stretch along with your baby and make great gifts for expecting mothers! They also use the same soft, stretchy fabric to make crib sheets and changing pad covers for your nursery. I would highly recommend snagging a few sets once your baby makes the transition from bassinet to crib.

Here is a list of my current favorites from Posh Peanut:

Babies come in all different shapes and sizes and what works best for my little one might not always work for yours. That being said, I do hope that if you’re a mama on the hunt for the perfect fit like me, you’ll give some of these brands a try!
